OMC Abogados & Consultores was invited to a workshop on Biopiracy
The National Commission Against Biopiracy together with the GEF-ABS Project organized a workshop on November 28 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, as part of the celebration of the National Day against Biopiracy, and at the same time, to commemorate the 15 years of the beginning of its functions.
Having the event as an ideal framework, the commission took the opportunity to present the achievements made during all these years of work as well as to inform about the new challenges that it will be assuming since the publication of the Law 28216 and the Nagoya Protocol.
The commission is an organization chaired by Indecopi, and its main task is to provide protection to the biological products and the knowledge that native communities possess about their use, through the worldwide search and identification of patents or applications where Peruvian biological resources intervene.
